The “Capital Region” is a great place to live. Not only is it beautiful and not congested, but this area has an abundant representation of history, culture, art, recreation and plain fun! Performance art, concerts, musical productions, theater and the visual arts all have a strong presence in the area. In fact, Dr. Richard Florida, author of The Rise of the Creative Class, ranked Albany 2nd out of 32 medium-sized metro areas. While there are urban attractions such as museums, shopping, sports and music, the area is located close to many outdoor activities. An hour’s drive brings you to many ski locations nestled in the hills and mountains of New York, Vermont and Massachusetts. Also within an hour are many of the vast selection of New York State Parks. One of the largest, encompassing one third of the land mass of New York is Adirondack Park System. If you enjoy hiking, camping, climbing, skiing, fishing, boating, swimming or just about any outdoor recreation including relaxing, you’ll find it in the Adirondacks. |
